how much does it cost to call from Nizhniy Novgorod russia to canada?
Q.
Asked by fib43 - Thu Apr 19 17:07:41 2007 - Russia - 3 Answers - Comments
A. I don't know. Nizhniy Novgorod is my native town. But i know that for its citizens it's very expensive to make any call abroad, i think more than 40 roubles per minute. But if you come from abroad with your own money, maybe it's not so expensive for you. You can buy a telephone card. When i was there 4 years ago, i bought a tel. card to call to Israel, and it's expired in 2 minutes, althought it cost me about 90 roubles.

A. You can pay an agency to do all the leg work for you to obtain a visa. is very good, I have used them twice. It costs about PS70 for the service, which sounds a lot but when you look at all those forms you have to fill in etc I know I would rather pay the PS30 extra.

Cost of staying in st Petersburg and Novgorod?
Q. I'm wondering what i should expect to pay for a basic room in both of these cities in march. also, is eating expensive?
Asked by Joe B - Fri Jan 9 08:01:08 2009 - Russia - 2 Answers - Comments
A. St. Petersburg would be more expensive than Novgorod. Then you can find some fast food places in St. Pete (which would not cost too bad) but Novgorod does not have any fast food spots, only restaurants and that could be probably more ar less the same prices as in the USA). More info about Novgorod is here:

Does anyone know a cheap way to send packages to Russia?
Q. I want to send a few packages to Nizhny Novgorod, Russia, that weigh between 2-10 pounds. Through whom should I send them through that will get me the cheapest price?
Asked by Anna - Thu Sep 14 18:46:23 2006 - Other - Destinations - 2 Answers - 1 Comments
A. Packages to Russia you do not send "cheap" - unless you are not too fussed about if they actually arrive or not!. Use DHL or UPS - one of the reputable couriers. Check that they have a central collection office rather than have them delivered to a local address - if this is possible - and get the person you are sending them to, to collect them from the local office. Do NOT send by Post. Ours works, theirs doesn't. Be prepared to pay whatever the going DHL or UPS or reputable carrier's rate is.

My mother's family are descended from china, mongolia, and tatar from Nizhny Novgorod, a Russian city by the River Volga. Have I got Russian blood left? If so, by how much? A. "Rossiyanin" is any person, who was born in Russia, lives there and/or has Russian citizenship. The word is used mostly by officials in their addresses, and it (doesn't/very rear) occur in other contexts. Can you consider yourself a Rossiyanin by those criteria? Russky? First of all, it is a matter of self-identification. Second, do you speak Russian more or less fluently? Some people say culture (or at least some knowledge of it) is of relevance here. Of cause, who of us is 'pure Russian' here, but mentality is non the less important, as there are profound differences in it between Russia and the West. Mentality disappears in a generation, if people are separated from the Russian soil.
